In honor of National Fair Housing Month, the Human Relations Commission, and the Human Relations Division of
the City of Durham Neighborhood Improvement Department are hosting the 2019 Human Relations Advocacy
Awards on Tuesday, April 23 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Holton Career and Resource Center Auditorium, located at
401 N Driver St. This ceremony is free and open to the public.
2019 honorees:
- Helena Cragg and the LGBTQ Center of Durham
- The Herald Sun for their project, "Story of My Street: Gentrification in Durham"
- Judge Shamieka Rhinehart
- Jalen McKoy
This year's ceremony features keynote speaker Dr. Serena Sebring, regional organizing manager for Southerners On
New Ground (SONG) and 2018 Human Relations Advocacy Award recipient.
